About The Long Beach Housing Authority

The Long Beach Housing Authority provides safe, secure, affordable housing for community residents to build positive community relationships and to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations that govern housing programs.

The Long Beach Housing Authority presently manages four senior and adult disabled apartments complexes: The Michael Valenti, Morton Cohen, Sonny Duckman and Sol Scher buildings.  These are comprised of 264 federally HUD-assisted units.
The Long Beach Housing Authority also manages 108 low-income family eligible housing units and 398 Section 8 housing choice vouchers.

The Long Beach Housing Authority was formed pursuant to New York State public housing law and is governed by a seven board of commissioners.  The commissioners are comprised of committed volunteers from the City of Long Beach who work together to provide policy and proper procedure oversight of housing programs.
The board appoints the Executive Director who manages the day-to-day operation of our programs.  All Long Beach Housing Authority staff provide guidance and information related to housing assistance programs and the requirements to qualified community residents.
